Walmart adds Spotify Premium free trial benefit to membership program
Walmart has added an enticing new perk for Walmart+ members: a six-month free trial of Spotify Premium, the ad-free version of the popular music streaming platform.
The offer can be used until March 6, 2023, but only for new Spotify Premium users. After the trial, it will cost you $9.99 per month. You can cancel at any time.
Spotify Premium offers a large catalog of music and podcasts with unlimited skips and no ads.
Walmart+ costs $12.95 per month or $98 per year and includes a 30-day free trial. Benefits include unlimited free shipping; early access to offers; savings on gas; and access to the “Scan & Go” contactless payment feature in the Walmart app. You can register directly on Walmart’s website here.
Adding Spotify to Walmart’s membership program increases competition with Amazon and its Prime membership program. Amazon Prime is currently offering three months free of its Music Unlimited service.
The advantage of Walmart’s membership program is that it is cheaper. Amazon’s monthly fee in the US went from $12.99 to $14.99, with the annual subscription going from $119 to $139.
Walmart launched its subscription shopping service in September 2020.
