“PiP was temporarily available on youtube.com/new for Premium on iOS, it is not widely rolled out yet, but we are working on it, updates will be available soon.

In response to another user, YouTube said: “We have received similar reports regarding this issue (music content cannot be played in PiP), and are currently investigating it..”

On Monday, YouTube rolled out Picture-in-Picture (PiP) for iOS

To enable the PiP feature on YouTube, launch the app and go to “Settings”. Go to “General” and choose “Picture-in-Picture” to enable it. You can disable the feature the same way by moving the toggle to off.

After enabling the feature, you should play any video on YouTube and then leave the app open by swiping up from the bottom of the screen. The video will continue to play and not stop, unlike previous versions of the YouTube app.
