Coco Jones Shows Us That “Love Is War” On Amazon’s New Original Song
As part of “Credit the Culture,” Amazon Music’s celebration of Black Music Month, rising R&B star and Bel-Air actress Coco Jones has released a brand new Amazon Original song titled “Love Is War”.
We see Coco lay down an emotionally vulnerable performance over a lush orchestral arrangement on the unreleased song. The awesome new song can only be heard on Amazon Music on the R&B Rotation Playlist or by simply asking “Alexa, play the Amazon Original by Coco Jones” in the Amazon Music app for iOS and Android, and on Alexa-enabled devices. In addition to the new track, Amazon Music listeners can access hundreds of Amazon Originalsfeaturing emerging and established artists across many genres, available to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music.
Jones learned about ambition early on growing up in Nashville, Tennessee. Her father played in the NFL and her mother was also a singer. Although she gave up music in her early years, she is now truly stepping into the storied R&B career she deserves after signing with High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings.
Music is not Coco’s only passion. She has been on the big screen (cinema and television) since she was a teenager. She is currently starring as the new Hilary Banks in Peacock’s Fresh Prince reboot, Bel-Air. Given her interests, it makes sense that she found her way to acting through song. She was first a recurring guest star on Disney’s musical, “So Random!” then in the network’s TV movie “Let It Shine” in 2012 where she was the golden-voiced lover. Although she has been acting and singing for a while, music was first. With the help of her mother, she started recording at the age of 9.
It’s been a long time coming, but the multifaceted Jones is ready to launch her music career with a brand of R&B that’s as moving as it is relatable and as honest as it is marked by powerful storytelling.
While Coco Jones’ Amazon Original is the final part of “Credit the Culture,” it’s certainly not the only one. Amazon Music will release Amazon Originals additions from some of the most exciting emerging artists, including rapper/R&B crooner Yung Bleu; artist, producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist bLAck pARty; and more. Customers can also connect to Amazon Music black culture radio, a multi-genre station featuring black artists from all genders, regions and generations. Later this month, Amazon Music will launch Diaspora, a new playlist that will feature the hottest new music, hip-hop, afrobeats and R&B, all in one unified playlist. On June 10, the Amazon Music channel on Twitch will also broadcast an orchestral tribute to Biggie Smalls, with music arranged and conducted by Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, and appearances by The Originals and several special guests. Exclusive Biggie Smalls merchandise, including limited-edition t-shirts commemorating the live stream, will also be available for pre-order at amazon.com/biggie and in the Amazon Music app.
